ANTELOPE CANYON: ANTELOPE'S SPIRITS WHISPER IN BLACK AND WHITE
Antelope Canyon, one of the most photographed locations in the South-West U.S.A., is often portrayed in ultra-saturated, ultra-bright reds. However, my experience of it when I first visited, in 2010, was very different. After leaving the crowds behind, Antelope Canyon stood to me as an intensely spiritual place, not a Vegas-like light-and-colour show. Its rocks, like some sort of Antelope’s Spirits sculpted by time and water, inspired me a much more intimate vision.
To let Antelope’s Spirits whisper their stories to me, I opted for a monochrome of greys rather the usual monochrome of reds, and I followed the suggestions inspired to me by the soft lines, the rough textures and the contrasts of light and shadows (click on the images to enlarge):
