YOUR ARE WELCOME TO JOIN ME FOR THE OPENING OF MY EXHIBITION “TIME (&) MATTERS” IN MILAN, OCTOBER 3, 2017!
Imagine a law studio where the associates love art and promote culture, hosting two major exhibitions a year and one cultural event a month on their premises.
Studio Legale Cascio Ferraro is one-off as far as law studios go, and when they asked me to be featured in their fall 2017 exhibition I immediately said yes.
“Time (&) Matters” is a project very close to my heart. I have been working on this series of black & white images for the last few years and published them as the first series of Fine Art Prints for sale as Single Print Editions on my new VIERI BOTTAZZINI FINE ART PRINTS website.
With their austere beauty and their imposing presence, and because of the concept behind them, these photographs were the natural candidates for this exhibition.
More, this is the first project I did in cooperation with my wife Zeynep, a published author, who kindly accepted to write one 3-line poem for each of the photographs featured in this series.
You’ll be able to read her stories, greatly enriching the exhibited photographs, either at the exhibition, on my TIME (&) MATTERS gallery on Vieri Bottazzini Fine Art Prints, or on the exhibition’s catalogue.
From the exhibition’s catalogue’s notes:
“Photography, by definition, freezes an instant in time on an image forever. In this project I was interested in showing the passing of time instead, making it visible on my photographs first through the choice of particular subject matters and weather conditions, and then, technically, through the use of long exposures oftentimes in the order of minutes. For such a project, the choice of black and white was immediately a given for me. Clearly, time matters also for photography as an art and a craft. Today we live in a multi-coloured world where we are constantly attacked by millions of images with the lifespan of a few minutes only, all trying to compete for our attention. Their weapon of choice is exaggeration, they try and overwhelm us through both the power of their number and that of the amount of unnecessary visual effects they use. Black and white, used here both as an artistic choice and almost as an antidote, brings us back to the roots of photography forcing both photographer and viewer to reflect on what really counts, subject, composition and use of light, all instrumental to convey the message – Time (&) Matters”
The exhibition’s vernissage is October 3rd, 2017, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Please confirm your presence to info@cascioferraro.com to secure your spot.
